PBL girls basketball won 29-26 over Calvary to claim tourney title


NORMAL – The Paxton-Buckley-Loda varsity girls basketball team won the Calvary Turkey Shootout championship on Tuesday.

The Panthers (3-5) claimed the title with a 29-26 victory over Normal Calvary Christian Academy.

The two teams were tied at 18-18 after three quarters before PBL broke the tie with an 11-8 advantage in the fourth quarter. Kylie Rust scored five points during the final quarter while Olivia Rehg drained a 3-pointer, Emmy Bagwell contributed a two-point basket and Hallee Johnson added a free throw.

Rust and Johnson, who were each named to the all-tournament team, finished with 12 and three points, respectively, while Tessa Boehme and Olivia Rehg each had five points and Bagwell had four points.
