About Us

The Ford County Chronicle is a weekly newspaper, published Wednesdays, committed to providing fair, balanced, accurate, timely and thorough reporting of news of interest to the community of Ford County and the surrounding area.

The newspaper’s first edition was published on July 1, 2020, after the paper was founded by Will Brumleve and Andrew Rosten, both award-winning local journalists who previously were employed by the now-defunct Ford County Record.

The Chronicle is printed each week by the Chicago Tribune’s printing press in suburban Schaumburg.

The Chronicle’s circulation was 1,300 as of September 2023, with 1,000 being paid subscribers.

In 2022, the Chronicle won the David B. Kramer Memorial Trophy in the Illinois Press Association’s annual Excellence in News contest, awarded to the best small, nondaily newspaper in Illinois. In 2023, the Ford County Chronicle won the Harold and Eva White Memorial Trophy, which recognizes the best medium-sized, nondaily newspaper statewide.

If an obituary is paid, the cost is based on length, charged at $6.50 per column inch. Obituaries are also posted online at www.fordcountychronicle.com.
