The Ford County Chronicle is a weekly newspaper, published Wednesdays, committed to providing fair, balanced, accurate, timely and thorough reporting of news of interest to the community of Ford County and the surrounding area.
The newspaper’s first edition was published on July 1, 2020, after the paper was founded by Will Brumleve and Andrew Rosten, both award-winning local journalists who previously were employed by the now-defunct Ford County Record.
The Chronicle is printed each week by the Daily Herald in suburban Schaumburg.
The Chronicle’s circulation was 1,200 as of February 2023, with 940 being paid subscribers.
In 2022, the Chronicle won the David B. Kramer Memorial Trophy in the Illinois Press Association’s annual Excellence in News contest, awarded to the best small, nondaily newspaper in Illinois.
Subscriptions are available nationwide. The newspaper is mailed each Wednesday by the U.S. Postal Service. Subscriptions cost $68 per year and can be arranged by sending a check for that amount, made out to the Ford County Chronicle, to: 336 E. State St., Paxton, IL 60957. Please attach a note with the name and address of the person to receive the newspaper if not already on the check. Credit card payments can also be arranged by emailing [email protected]; there is an additional 3 percent charge if paid by credit card.

Families may submit personalized obituaries for publication in the Ford County Chronicle through their funeral homes. There is no cost for obituaries unless the family does not wish for an obituary to be edited in any fashion. The Chronicle will edit obituaries that are published at no charge for punctuation, style and grammar and remove statements that are considered opinion, not fact. If an obituary is paid, the cost is based on length, charged at $6.50 per column inch. Obituaries are also posted online at www.fordcountychronicle.com.
