Rhonda Jayne Elson, 68 of Paxton, passed away at 9:49 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Rev. Pat Allin officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, at the funeral home.
Rhonda was born September 15, 1955, in Paxton the daughter of Karl and Joanne Anderson Swanson. She married Dennis Elson October 15, 1977, at the Loda United Methodist Church. He survives.
Along with her husband, Dennis, she is survived by two sons, Andrew (Margo) Elson of Loda, Dane (Caissie) Elson of Paxton; one daughter, Karlie (Curtis) Leischner of Monticello; nine grandchildren, Casen Gallagher, Joie Gallagher, Allie Elson, Hazel Jayne Elson, Avie Elson, Rya Elson, Cal Elson, Tatum Leischner, Brynlie Leischner; five sisters, Cheryl Niccum, Donna (Mike) Auld, Debbie (Dick) Vance, Lisa (Jeff) Cox, all of Paxton, Brenda (Mitch) Franzen of Rantoul; three brothers, Steve (Minnie) Swanson, Brian (Tennile) Swanson, both of Paxton; Jim (Wendy) Swanson of Champaign; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Diane Gagnon, Lori Swanson, Gwen Kirchner, Karen Marshall and a brother, Douglas Swanson.
Rhonda graduated from Paxton High School in 1973. She retired from JELD-WEN Windows and Doors, Rantoul.
She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Fighting Illini fan. She enjoyed playing cards with her sisters and watching sports. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
