Mary Kay Leathers age 86 of Oreana formerly of Gibson City died at 10:25 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2025 at home in Oreana, IL. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2025 at Rosenbaum Funeral Home in Gibson City with the Rev. Dan Perry officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Drummer Township Cemetery in Gibson City.
Mrs. Leathers was born on August 18, 1939 in Bloomington, IL a daughter of Lawson and Doris Tjardes Leathers. She married Mervin Leon Leather on January 12, 1958.
She is survived by five children: Mark (Sheri) Leathers of Mukwonago, WI, Mary Beth (Gaylan) Oros of Oreana, Marcia Pesci of Oreana, Michael (Jennifer) Leathers of Bettendorf, IA, Martin (Melissa) Leathers of Decatur, ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, her husband, an Infant son, and two infant great grandchildren.
Mrs. Leathers was a committed wife, mother, grandma, and Grandma-Great. She was a member of the Oreana Christian Church where she also served as an elder. She loved family genealogy, scrapbooking, needle point, and was an avid supporter of everything family, the kid’s sports and events.
