WATSEKA — Dale Gercken, 82, of Watseka, father of a Piper City resident, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2025, at the Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home with Joe Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Anne Township Cemetery with graveside military rites by the Watseka American Legion Post No. 23.
Mr. Gercken was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Aurora, a son of Louis and Helen (Green) Gercken. He married Karen Duby on April 27, 1968, in Watseka, and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Christi Sheals of Crestview, Fla., and Amy (William) Creek of Piper City; two grandchildren, Kaylen and Emma Creek of Piper City; and three siblings, Roger Gercken of Ottawa, Myron Gercken of Watseka and Carol (David) Percefull of Lafayette, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Michelle Perzee.
Mr. Gercken loved hunting deer and arrowheads. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Watseka American Legion Post No. 23.
