ELLIOTT — Village trustees approved annual expense and revenue appropriations for the 2025-26 fiscal year during a special meeting on Wednesday, July 23.
Village Clerk Gloria Lynch prepared both the revenue and expense documents for board review. Lynch reported that estimated revenue sources totaled $262,817 — $173,165 for the general fund, $16,500 for the motor fuel tax and $73,152 for the water fund.
Trustees reviewed 23 categories of expenses by comparing prior year, actual and recommended totals prepared by Lynch.
There were 12 spending categories left unchanged from the prior fiscal year, while eight categories were increased and three were decreased. Most of the increases were due to actual amounts that were paid compared with the amount budgeted in the preceding fiscal year.
By adding the 23 amounts approved, appropriations totaled $193,140 for 2025- 26 compared with $160,625 for 2024-25, an increase of $32,515.
Although Lynch listed some additional expenses at the bottom of the worksheet, no amounts were specifically appropriated for those.
With assistance from legal counsel if needed, Lynch will submit appropriations and estimated revenue ordinances to Ford County officials.
All trustees were present except Megan Fairchild.
Village Attorney Marc Miller and Treasurer Paula Swearingen were also present, along with two residents.
