Paxton Park Board holds bond hearing

PAXTON – The Paxton Park Board held a bond hearing on Tuesday.

The purpose of the hearing was to receive public comments on the proposal to sell general obligation limited tax park bonds of the Paxton Park District in the amount not to exceed $210,000 for the purpose of providing funds to pay costs of building, maintaining, improving and protecting park district land and facilities.

Ford County Chronicle Co-Publisher Andrew Rosten was the only member of the public present to speak with Paxton Park Board Commissioners Mark Fredricksen, Matt Quinlan and Craig Kief.

When asked by Rosten what specific projects would be planned, Quinlan said there will be “more specifics to come out in the future.”

“This will get us back on track from a budgetary standpoint,” Kief said. “We’ll be able to evaluate some projects that need to be done.”

Quinlan said the bond sale will also “catch us up from the oversight from the county” in regards to tax assessments.

According to Kief, the park district “essentially just skipped a year on securing a bond.”

“We did our part by doing that, and another organization did not, so we have to take that in account,” Quinlan said. “We’re not calling anybody out. We’re just trying to move forward.”
