Ian Ostendorf, right, and Melinda Garrelts, both parents of members of Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School’s class of 2028, are joined by Ostendorf’s son, Cole, as they cook butterfly pork chops and ribeye steaks on a grill while helping staff a Paxton Kirby Foods cookout fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 16, to benefit PBL High School’s class of 2028. Through the end of November, the grocery store at 144 W. Pells St. in Paxton is hosting cookouts to benefit local nonprofits each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The next one — on Saturday, Aug. 23 — will raise funds for the Prairie Champions 4-H Club, with butterfly pork chop sandwiches being sold for $6 and ribeye steak sandwiches for $8.
