GIBSON CITY – The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Middle School baseball team won 5-0 over Rantoul St. Malachy on Thursday.
Miles Lindelof and Ben Roesch combined to pitch a one-hit shutout. Lindelof struck out eight batters and walked five while yielding one hit through 4 2/3 innings pitched while Roesch struck out seven batters and walked one through 2 1/3 innings.
Jared Caviness hit a two-RBI single in the fifth inning to extend GCMS’s lead to 4-0. The Falcons scored four runs that inning.
Caviness finished the game hitting 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Diezel Paris hit 2-for-2.
In a two-inning “B” game, GCMS won 4-0 over St. Malachy.
Judd Berry, Dreydan Clayton and Gavin McAdam each produced an RBI. On the mound, Kade Friday yielded no runs on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts through two innings.
