Paxton Police Blotter: Danville man, 46, arrested in child predator sting



PAXTON — The Paxton Police Department released the following list of recent activity:

Brooks T. Clarkson

— Brooks T. Clarkson, 46, of Danville, was arrested for traveling to meet a minor, solicitation to meet a child and indecent solicitation of a child on Saturday, March 1, as part of the police department’s ongoing sting targeting child predators online. The investigation began on Friday, Feb. 7, when Clarkson allegedly began communicating online with a police officer posing as a 15-year-old girl. After Clarkson drove to Paxton to meet the teen on Saturday, March 1, he was arrested around 9:28 p.m. near the intersection of Meuser Drive and Washington Street by the city’s southeast edge. The 2003 Chevrolet Silverado that he was driving was impounded by police under city ordinance.

— Kenneth D. Sutherland, 30, of Paxton, was arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license during a traffic stop at 8:47 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, near the intersection of Patton and Union streets on the city’s southeast side. The traffic stop was conducted after police allegedly saw Sutherland fail to signal when required while driving a 2003 Ford Taurus. The car was impounded by police under city ordinance.
