32 traffic tickets issued in October

FORD COUNTY SHERIFF

PAXTON — The Ford County Sheriff’s Office issued 32 traffic citations in October, including 21 for speeding, three for driving with a suspended/revoked driver’s license and one each for driving with no valid driver’s license, unlawful possession of adult-use cannabis by a driver, disregarding a stop sign, passing a school bus with its stop arm extended, operating an uninsured vehicle, expired vehicle registration and unlawful use of an electronic communication device while driving.

Sheriff’s deputies also wrote 24 warning citations and responded to seven traffic accidents.

Civil process activity included 22 court summons issued in 41 attempts and 12 warrants served.

Sheriff’s deputies assisted other agencies 16 times and motorists 10 times.

Other field incident/complaint reports in October were related to: animal complaints (16), civil/non-criminal complaints (13), investigation followups (12), traffic complaints (10), suspicious activity/people (9), 911 hangup calls (9), welfare checks (7), domestic problems (6), suspicious vehicles (3), juvenile complaints (3), burning complaints (3), property standbys (3), custody disputes (2), damage to property (2), theft (2), harassment complaints (2), security alarms (2), assistance to public (2), hit-and-run crashes (1), abuse complaints (1), criminal damage (1), fraud (1), noise complaints (1), lockouts (1), house checks (1), death investigations (1), stolen vehicles (1) and suicide/ attempted suicide (1).

Income for the sheriff’s office in October totaled $72,872, bringing the fiscal year’s total to $707,542, with income coming from contracts ($63,422), inmate phones ($7,729), the civil process ($917), sheriff sales ($600), the arrestee medical fund ($90), transports ($64) and requests for reports ($50).

Ford County inmates’ mandays totaled 779 in October, bringing the total for the fiscal year to 8,917.
