Paxton Police Blotter (May 26, 2020)


 

 

PAXTON — At 6:55 p.m. Thursday, May 21, the Paxton Police Department received a report of a subject operating a motorcycle which had no registration on the roadway in the area of 105 E. State Street.

Upon arrival, the Paxton police located Douglas J. Akerland, a 30-year-old male from Paxton, operating a 2020 TaoTao dirt bike.

Akerland was stopped for operating a motor vehicle without registration. Upon checking Akerland’s driver’s license status, it was found that he was suspended through Illinois.

He was issued a citation for driving while license is suspended.

The vehicle was seized under city ordinance.

Akerland was released on scene.

At 7:55 a.m. Monday, May 25 , the Paxton police observed James R. Tovey, a 30-year-old male from Paxton, driving a 2005 Ford Explorer in the area of Market and Holmes Street.

It was confirmed through Ford County that Tovey had a suspended driver’s license.

He was issued a citation for driving while license is suspended, and his vehicle was seized under city ordinance. Tovey was released on scene.

At 4:06 p.m. Sunday, May 24, an accident occurred at the intersection of American and Patton Street.

Unit 1 was a 16-year-old male driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. Unit 2 was a 16-year-old female driving a 2014 Chrysler vehicle.

Unit 1 was cited for failure to yield.
