PBL softball loses 15-0 to Pontiac

RANTOUL – The Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School softball team lost 15-0 in four innings to Pontiac on Wednesday.

“It was a tough one,” PBL head coach Taylor Walwer said. “We just made too many defensive errors early on and just had a hard time adjusting to their pitcher’s speed.”

Tanner Graham produced what would be PBL’s lone hit via a leadoff single to left field in the first inning. Kendyl Badgley drew a leadoff walk for the Panthers in the second inning before stealing second base with two outs, but both baserunners would be left stranded.

“I thought Tanner did a great job tonight with her first at-bat to start us off, but other than that, we just couldn’t get anything going,” Walwer said.

On the mound, Aubrey Busboom allowed 15 runs – 14 earned – on six hits and 13 walks with five strikeouts through 2 2/3 innings.

With the loss, PBL fell to 0-4. The Panthers will play two games at Tuscola on Saturday and one at Milford on Monday and host Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley on Tuesday before hosting Chillicothe Illinois Valley Central the following Saturday and playing at Watseka on April 4.

“We’ve just got to clean up our defense and get our bats going on offense,” Walwer said.
