Charles Withers, 86 of Paxton, died at 9:09 a.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2023, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Rev. Steve Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.
Visitation will be two hours before the funeral service from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, at the funeral home.
Charles was born January 24, 1937, in Russell County, Kentucky the son of Arles and Ruby Warner Withers. He married Ida Mae Cress April 17, 1958, in Chicago. She preceded him in death June 4, 1991.
He worked for France Picture Frames, Chicago before moving to Paxton in 1973, and going to work at M & W Gear, Gibson City.
Charles is survived by one son, David Withers of Paxton; one grandson, Patrick Spurlock; one brother, A.G. Withers of Gifford; two sisters, Leola Benefield of Russell Springs, KY; Jewel Wade of Casey County, KY and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, John Spurlock; five brothers, Elwood, Hubert, Leonard, Everett and Dean Withers.
Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking, especially building bird houses.
