PAXTON – The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley High School girls track and field finished second with a score of 129 in the Paxton-Buckley-Loda Preseason Kickoff Invite on Thursday.
Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin finished first with a score of 139 ½ while PBL finished sixth with a score of 57 ½.
On the boys’ side, GCMS finished third with a score of 108 while PBL finished fourth with a score of 94.
In the girls’ 400-meter dash, GCMS’s Natalie DeSchepper, Cecilia Goodin and Sophia Ray finished first, second and third, respectively, with times of 1:09.86, 1:11.18 and 1:11.2 while Reagan Tompkins finished ninth with a time of 1:16.37 and Sarah Higgins finished 12th with a time of 1:24.98.
In the boys’ pole vault, GCMS’s Shawn Schlickman finished first with a height of 3.2 meters while PBL’s Isaiah Busby and GCMS’s Alex Ward finished second and third, respectively, with vaults of 3.2 and 2.29 meters.
In the boys’ 300-meter hurdles, GCMS’s Austin Kasper and Skyler Morano finished first and fourth, respectively, with times of 44.65 and 47.17 seconds while PBL’s Mason Vaughan and Von Lane finished seventh and ninth, respectively, with times of 48.34 and 55.11 seconds. Kasper also finished fourth in the triple jump wit ha leap of 10.69 meters.
In the boys’ long jump, PBL’s Robert Boyd-Meents finished first with a leap of 5.92 meters while teammate Keegan Spegal finished fourth with a jump of 5.25 meters. GCMS’s Shawn Schlickman finished sixth and 12th, respectively, with leaps of 5.23 and 4.69 meters while PBL’s David King finished seventh with a jump of 5.22 meters.
In the boys’ shot put, Kendall Swanson finished first with a throw of 12.59 meters while GCMS’s Gavin Williams and Logan Ward finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with throws of 12.24 and 11.45 meters. GCMS’s Kale Holzhauer, Orion Hillard-Borden and Dominick Bond finished seventh, 10th and 14th, respectively, with throws of 11.19, 10.96 and 10.31 meters while PBL’s Matthew Suaava, Heiden Tester, Alex Swanson and Arlo Linder finished ninth, 18th, 24th and 34th, respectively, with throws of 11, 10.11, 9.45 and 7.87 meters.
In the girls’ 4×400 relay, Reagan Miller, Sophia Ray, Cecilia Goodin and Natalie DeSchepper finished first with a time of 4:38.29 while PBL’s Bailey Luebchow, Sydney Pickens, Olivia Rehg and Trixie Johnson finished second with a time of 4:38.49. Luebchow also finished first in the girls’ pole vault with a height of 3.2 meters.
In the boys’ 4×100 relay, PBL’s David King, Benjamin Schmidt, Dalton Jones and Robert Boyd-Meents finished first with a time of 45.3 seconds while GCMS’s Jacob Chase Shawn Schlickman, Martise Evans and Aiden Sancken finished fourth with a time of 47.4 seconds. In the 4×200 relay, King, Schmidt, Jones and Boyd-Meents finished first with a time of 1:34.47 while Chase, Schlickman, Evans and Sancken finished fourth with a time of 1:40.5.
In the girls’ discus, GCMS’s Savannah Shumate finished first with a throw of 25.91 meters while PBL’s Sam Hewerdine finished fourth with a throw of 23.56 meters. GCMS’s Addy Kerchenfaut, Kyah Lee and Elizabeth Goodin finished eighth, 10th and 18th, respectively, with throws of 18.47, 18.19 and 13.94 meters and PBL’s Karley Putnam, Addyson Kinnaird and Destani McClatchey finished 11th, 19th and 23rd, respectively, with throws of 17.8, 13.8 and 10.14 meters.
In the girls’ 800-meter run, GCMS’s Cecilia Goodin finished second with a time of 2:45.62 while PBL’s Sydney Pickens finished fourth with a time of 2:53.86. GCMS’s Sophia Ray finished sixth with a time of 2:55.13 while PBL’s Grace McCoy finished ninth with a time of 3:00.97.
In the girls’ 3,200-meter run, GCMS’s Lilly Lahr finished second with a time of 15:01.21.
In the girls’ 300-meter hurdles, PBL’s Anna Layng finished second with a time of 56.08 seconds while Anna Goodin finished fourth with a time of 57.3 seconds.
In the girls’ triple jump, GCMS’s Anna Goodin and Natalie DeSchepper finished second and third, respectively, with leaps of 8.84 and 8.45 meters.

Bohlmann seventh in the girls’ 100-meter dash with a time of 14.95 seconds while Stone finished 30th with a time of 16.34 seconds.
Christ Lutheran’s Gabriel Bohlmann finished sixth in the boys’ triple jump with a leap of 9.08 meters and 17th in the long jump with a leap of 4.19 meters.
