GCMS 7th-grade boys basketball advances to regional semifinals

LEROY – The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley seventh-grade boys basketball team won 48-15 over Blue Ridge in the IESA Class 2A LeRoy Regional quarterfinals on Saturday.

Bo Grider scored 12 points for No. 2 seeded GCMS while Mason Mueller also scored in double figures with 10 points. Ben Roesch had eight points while Jace Elder had six points, Judd Berry had four points and Wesley Johnson, Drew Ward, Dreydon Clayton and Brandon Whitson each had two points.

The Falcons will face Normal Metcalf in the regional semifinals at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday.

On Thursday, the GCMS seventh-graders lost 39-32 to Rantoul St. Malachy.

Jace Elder had 11 points while Ben Roesch had nine points, Bo Grider had five points, Mason Mueller had four points and Case Jester had three points.
