Melvin man arrested after traveling to Paxton to meet child



PAXTON — Cecil F. Zeck, 36, of Melvin, was arrested by Paxton police for traveling to meet a minor, indecent solicitation of a child, exploitation of a child and solicitation to meet a minor on Saturday, May 13, after he allegedly arrived in the parking lot of Hardee’s, 451 W. Ottawa Road, around 9:32 p.m. to meet someone he believed to be a teenage girl, with whom he had been communicating online since Friday, April 28.

The teen was actually an undercover Paxton police officer.

The vehicle that Zeck was driving — a 2013 Ford Edge — was seized by police under city ordinance.

Zeck remained in custody on Thursday, May 18, at the Ford County Jail, where he was being held on a $100,000 bond, meaning he would need to pay $10,000 to be released.
