Buckley St. John’s girls track places sixth at state meet


CHICAGO – St. John’s Lutheran School in Buckley had five girls track team members participate in the Lutheran Sports Association of Illinois state track meet on May 20-21.

The girls team placed sixth overall with a score of 26 behind Bloomington Trinity (104), Lombard St. John (72.33), Belleville Zion (65), Decatur Lutheran (36) and River Forest Grace (27).

Grace Bohlmann won the state title in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.91. Bohlmann also finished second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.41 seconds and second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.06 seconds.

Bohlmann, Anna Birge, Ella Schluter and Kaelyn Schwing finished 10th in the 4×200 relay with a time of 2:07.87.

Edith Conn finished 18th in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:45.73. Kaelyn Schwing finished 22nd in the discus with a throw of 59-6.
